No. 29 East Beach, Thomas Island
Thomas Island lies at the southern end of the popular Whitsunday group of islands and is frequented by visiting yachts. This bay contains three separate beaches of which this is the east one. This beach seemed to have more debris than the other two. Much of the plastic had clearly been in the environment for some time. There was large ships hawser wrapped around the trees at the back of the beach which couldn't be removed with the resources available. The rest of the debris was collected and data input to the Australian Marine Debris Initiative database.
