Beachcombing with a camera

Walking along the tideline is always fascinating and full of surprises. This is where the terrestrial and marine environments meet and it acts as a gathering place for so much detrital. Debris from the ocean is driven by wind and waves. Seaweed, plastic, micro plastic, fishing gear, cuttlefish, bits of boats, branches, dead fish, dead crabs, jellyfish and so it goes on. But it's also a life giving zone. Many crustaceans feed in the tideline and in turn many birds feed on them. This becomes an issue when they mistake plastic for food.

The photos here are simply of the beaches as we found them. The concentrations of plastic and other litter are as we found them, with nothing moved. We have been fortunate to visit some remote and beautiful places and hope you find the information here useful and informative.

To date we have not found a plastic free beach ......
